Vodafone to battle off Customer Privacy attack

Vodafone Director of Customer Service, Cormac Hodgkinson is trying to defend Vodafone in a breach against its privacy policy. Vodafone has all of its customer data which included details like their address, age, telephone number and some of their banking details stored in a database. The database also has customers phone and billing details which can be heavily misused. This can also be a paradise for hackers who can sell this information for people to misuse. This information has been stored on the internet for easy access to Vodafone’s numerous dealers, authorised employees all by passing through a secure web portal which requires just an authentication which is nothing but a simple username and password. This highly increases the chance of beating through the system and customer privacy becomes a high risk factor.

This could get better if Vodafone would have chosen a company intranet system which stores all this information on the company server and not on the World Wide Web. This could make the information more secure and customers could be at peace about all their information. But it didn’t work that way and now Vodafone faces a serious law suit against them.

Vodafone Mobiles : Vodafone mobiles offers great mobile deals which suit almost every varying mobile usage requirements. With Vodafone mobiles you can go for either pay as you go or pay monthly plans whichever is convenient to you.

The year 2011 has not been a good start for Vodafone as it already has two law suits against themselves. One is for the privacy issue which Vodafone will soon have to take action for. The other is for low signal strength and broken networks where half of the Australians have complained according to Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN). Vodafone though is already in lines of solving this issue by spending over $550 million on upgrading its bandwidth. They have plans to install more than 1500 new base stations which should solve the complaints and get the Australian consumers some better signal strength. But whatever the action, Vodafone surely needs to be quick.

  1. Hat’s off. Well done, as we know that “hard work always pays off”, after a long struggle with sincere effort it’s done.
